1938

Foundation

Founding of the company ‘Dr. GRAW Messgeräte’ in Berlin, Germany by the physicist Dr. Josef Graw

1942

New product

Dr. Graw developed and patented the key component of the radiosonde, the Graw morse encoding cylinder; by this invention, the measurement precision was improved.

Relocation

Relocation of the company to Nuremberg, Germany.

1948

Radiosonde development

Development of the radiosondes H50 and M60 for German Weather Service M60 pushed Graw Radiosondes to an international leading position in terms of accuracy and robustness

Takeover

Mr. Horst Schmidmer (owner of the Noris Group GmbH) took over all shares of Dr. Graw.

License production of radiosonde RSG for German Weather Service and E076 for German Army.

Introduction of the radiosondes E084 and E085 for German Army.

Production improvement

Start of completely computer-controlled production and calibration.

1986

New radiosonde systems

Introduction of the mini radiosonde system TDFS / KS-87 for measurements in lower heights.

1990

Product development

Development of the first purely digital radiosonde DFM-90 and groundstation GK-90.

Start of Surface Mounted Technology (SMT) to increase productivity.

New building established for expansion of production, quality management and warehouse logistics.

With the DFM-17, Graw Radiosonde succeeded in bringing one of the smallest, lightest and most successful radiosondes to market in the world.
